I first heard of wretch 32(.....thats three two and not thirty two) in April when his song 'Unorthodox' was all over the airwaves in the UK. I was feeling the fun, retro meet modern beat and vibe, his catchy lyrics and even catchier chorus. "We don't follow no crowd. They follow us!......Unorthodox! We call our own shots!" The track also had Example who had also just entered my music awareness bubble. My friend then introduced me to his first single off his album Black and White, the sick 'Traktor', and i was officially a fan.
Real name Jermaine Scott, Wretch 32 is the UK's rapper of the moment. Although he had an album in 2008, Wretchrospective, and some mixtapes before that, in 2010 he was named as one of the nominees for BBC's Sound of 2011, an annual poll which predicts artists that will progress during the upcoming year. With his current single 'Don't go' peaking at No.1 on the UK charts, it sure is turning out that way.
