Movie Geek - Honest Trailers: The Dark Knight Rises

Lol @ "Starring the cast of Inception".

Screen Junkies' Honest Trailers always crack me up! We hype movies and eagerly wait for their release, and then when we watch them they hardly ever live up to all the hype, but then we keep that to ourselves. Thats how i honestly felt about The Dark Knight Rises. It was great, fun, cool and all but...not quite the "epic to end all epics" I was looking forward to. And yes some of the points picked up in this honest trailer jumped out at me while watching it.

Enough talk, check out the honest trailer for the movie.

FYI its packed with SPOILERS so avoid if you haven't seen the movie.

Music Off The Tube - Woodkid: Iron

So you know I always discover new music and artists off soundtracks and scores for movies, trailers, tv shows and even ads, right? Well heres an interesting (read "different") one.

Off the Hitchcock movie trailer (of all places abi) comes the stomping atmospheric Iron by Woodkid. Its actually over a year old and I had heard it before (a rapper sampled it i believe and i searched it out), but it was used in an intriguing way in the trailer and I actually didn't add things up until i went hunting on Youtube. The song also comes up in the trailer for popular game Assassin's Creed: Revelations. Get those cheques Woodkid!

So heres Iron. You can look out for it in the trailer for Hitchcock below. I've also put Woodkid's 'Epic-ish" video for the song after the cut.

Movie Geek - Honest Trailers: The Hunger Games

I always love a good movie piss take (see How It Should Have Ended), and now i've found a new one - Honest Trailers. The guys over at screenjunkies give movie trailers a dose of honesty. Most recent is The Hunger Games.

Relive the gritty brutality of the hit book as a watered down, PG-13 tween movie and may the odds be ever in its favor!

Movie Geek - How The Dark Knight Rises Should Have Ended

Its been a while since we had a "How It Should Have Ended". The guys take a stab at The Dark Knight Rises.

Movie Geek - First Look At The Carrie Remake

Oh look classic horror movie Carrie is getting a remake. Hollywood never tires of a remake. Well this time around Chloe Grace Mortez stars as the unfortunate high schooler. From the released blood soaked image, I suppose we can expect next year's movie to stay true to the 1976 original.
Check out another image from the movie after the cut.

Movie Geek - First Look At Chiwetel Ejiofor And Thandie Newton In 'Half Of A Yellow Sun' Film Adaptation

Don't know how i missed this. A couple of days ago the first image from the movie adaptation of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's impressive, Orange Prize-winning novel, Half Of A Yellow Sun, hit the net.

I really enjoyed reading this book, and i'm sure the film will be good. If you aren't familiar with the story, heres the official synopsis:

... weaving together the lives of four people swept up in the turbulence of war. Olanna (Newton) and Kainene (Rose) are glamorous twins from a wealthy Nigerian family. Returning to a privileged city life in newly independent 1960s Nigeria after their expensive English education, the two women make very different choices. Olanna shocks her family by going to live with her lover, the “revolutionary professor” Odenigbo (Ejiofor) and his devoted houseboy Ugwu (Boyega) in the dusty university town of Nsukka; Kainene turns out to be a fiercely successful businesswoman when she takes over the family interests, and surprises herself when she falls in love with Richard (Mawle) an English writer. Preoccupied by their romantic entanglements, and a betrayal between the sisters, the events of their life loom larger than politics. However, they become caught up in the events of the Nigerian civil war, in which the lgbo people fought an impassioned struggle to establish Biafra an independent republic, ending in chilling violence which shocked the entire country and the world.

Half Of A Yellow Sun stars Thandie Newton, Chiwetel Ejiofor (I stan!), John Boyega, Dominic Cooper, Anika Noni Rose, Joseph Mawle and Genevieve Nnaji, and Onyeka Onwenu. Nigerian songwriter Cobhams Asuquo and singer-songwriter Keziah Jones are also composing original music for the film. The film should come out next year. Nice.
