Free Album - L Marshall: Kiss The Fire

L Marshall releases his free, highly anticipated project ‘Kiss The Fire’. L Marshall has been teasing his project for a while now, releasing a video every two weeks as part of his 8 week project. The third instalment also entitled ‘Kiss The Fire’ dropped on June 17th 

‘Kiss The Fire’ which is described as neither an EP nor a mixtape, shows L Marshall’s true self as an artist as he gives this project away to his fans as a gift. The singer/rapper/songwriter, who has written for the likes of Cheryl Cole, Loick Essien and co wrote as well as featured on Wretch 32’s ‘Tracktor’, demonstrates his ability to write captivating songs most specifically ‘I.L.Y’ ‘Live All The Way’ and ‘Fire’. You can understand why this is more a project as it allows L Marshall to experiment with different sounds. 

The track ‘Kiss The Fire’ has a strong dup step sound and ‘Gas Man’ has an edgy rock vibe to it while the rest of the project as a collective is almost split in two, with the first half having more rap leading to more singing and softer beats towards the end of the project. ‘Focus’brings a soulful and orchestral feel to the project making it one of the standout tracks on the project as L balances rapping and singing on the track exquisitely.

 

‘Kiss The Fire’ shows off L Marshall’s skills as the versatile artist he is with this exciting project.

"In Nigeria, majority of cases that deal with violence Against Women are unreported so official statistics are unavailable but some figures state that as high as 1 in every 5 women is in an abusive relationship. 

The VAW music project is an hbs intervention implemented by DLI Tuesday Nig. Ltd. The project was launched to build women’s self confidence, discourage men from gender based violence, and to make society take notice and speak up instead of look away. 

This necessitated recording a music album featuring some of Nigeria’s biggest musicians with a violence-against-women theme. 

The four artists Omawumi, M.I, Waje, ElDee volunteered their services to such a worthy cause and attended a workshop with hbs, survivors of violence, lawyers who deal with gender based violence and NGO’s that help survivors. This helped the artist understand the legal and emotional issues involved to enable them connect with the theme of the album. Spread the Message."
