Yes you are looking at Troy from the TV show Community. Real name Donald Glover, Childish Gambino has been on the scene for a couple of years now, releasing albums and mixtapes through 2008-2010. Apparently he got the 'random sounding' moniker 'Childish Gambino' from the Wu-Tang clan name generator. That in itself says a lot about this dude.
Personally I find his lyrics quite interesting and funny, and he doesn't appear to take himself too seriously. That said his music touches on relateable personal subject matters, including family, schoolyard bullying, troubled romantic relationships, suicidal thoughts and alcoholism. Erm ok some aren't so relateable. Lol.
My favourite track is 'Break' where he flips Kanye West's 'All of the lights', with 'Freaks and Geeks' coming a close second. Check out the tracks (and a couple of others) below, and the video for Freaks and Geeks after the cut.
